Lecture with former National Park Ranger and author Rolf Diamant

$20Head to the Mather Homestead, home of the first National Parks Service Director Stephen Tyng Mather, for a lecture about the National Parks. Rolf Diamant, co-author of “Olmsted and Yosemite: Civil War, Abolition, and the National Park Idea” will discuss his fascinating take on the national parks, linking their creation to the abolition of slavery and questions of citizenship and nationhood in the Civil War years. Diamant is a landscape architect and historian, a former professor at the University of California, Berkeley and Harvard University, and now author and a professor in the University of Vermont’s Historic Preservation Program.
