SHORT CUTS Screening of Short Films from Tribeca Film Festival at DAC

$25The Darien Arts Center is delighted to announce a special Darien screening of award-winning documentary short films from the Short Cuts Film Festival, curated from the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. The screening, a JIB Productions event, takes place on November 16th at 7pm in the DAC Weatherstone Studio and will be followed up with a live Zoom discussion with Director Elena Francesa Engel. Tickets for the Short Cuts Documentaries screening are $25 at darienarts.org.
Four short documentary films will be shown. John Leguizamo Live at Rikers Island is directed by Elena Francesa Engel. In it actor John Leguizamo spends time at Rikers Island inspiring justice-involved young men to reflect openly about their own lives and the serious challenges of incarceration.
Beirut Dreams in Color is directed by Michael Collins. He is the openly gay frontman of a Lebanese rock band. She is an ardent activist and fan. After one fateful night, their lives intersect and are altered forever.
More Than I Want to Remember directed by Amy Bench, is the winner for Best Animated Short at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. 14-year-old Mugeni awakes to the sounds of bombs. As her family scatters to the surrounding forests to save themselves, Mugeni finds herself completely alone.
Kylie is directed by Sterling Hampton. In it a young ballerina from the inner city voices her experiences in the dance industry whilst performing on the streets of Los Angeles.
JIB Productions, a Westport-based not-for-profit arts organization, produces Short Cuts, its annual fall film series and is also known throughout Fairfield County for its flagship lunchtime theater series Play With Your Food.
