Ways to Give
STAR, Inc. Lighting the Way relies on the generous contributions of supporters and friends to meet the costs of its services for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Each year STAR touches the lives of over 600 of our neighbors with developmental disabilities and their families. Your contribution makes a difference. There are several ways to make a contribution. Choose the way that works best for you!
About STAR, Inc. Lighting the Way
STAR, Inc. Lighting the Way was established in 1952 by parents who believed that children with developmental disabilities were entitled to the same basic opportunities in their home community as other children and as an alternative to institutionalization.
Today, STAR has grown to include a full array of services for over 600 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, from birth to their senior years. STAR services include Early Childhood Intervention Services through its STAR Rubino Family Center, High School Transition Programs, Adult Employment Programs, Adult Day Supports and Residential Living, Senior and Memory Care Day Services, Family Supports and Recreational Programs. Services are provided in lower Fairfield County, CT primarily in the towns of Norwalk, New Canaan, Wilton, Weston, Westport and Darien with office locations in Norwalk, New Canaan and Darien.
We create opportunities for individuals to live full lives with independence, freedom of choice and personal growth by providing support, services and advocacy. We inform and encourage the community to recognize and appreciate the value of all individuals. Our goal is the inclusion of all individuals with disabilities in their community.
We have various events throughout the year to raise money for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Some of these include a yearly Gala, golf tournaments, and luncheons with speakers.
