June 2022 Darien Events & Announcements

A member benefit of the Darien Chamber of Commerce is every member, and their employees, are eligible for merit-based college scholarships. On behalf of the Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation, we are proud to announce the Chamber’s 2022 Merit Scholarship Award Recipients: Lily Donzeiser and Sydney Roland. Lily’s mother is a real estate agent at COMPASS and Sydney’s mother is an employee of Everything is Rosey Boutique.

Lily Donzeiser, Darien High School Class of 2022, is The Penny Glassmeyer STEM Scholarship awardee. In the fall, Lily will be attending UC Berkeley, majoring in Environmental Sciences, specifically in the areas of ecology and climate change.

Sydney Roland, Darien High School Class of 2022, is the General Education Scholarship awardee. Sydney will be attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago this fall, she stated, “I have loved all 4 years at DHS and enjoyed taking a plethora of their art classes - everything from art foundations, to mural painting, to AP art and design.”

This year the Darien Chamber renamed the STEM scholarship after Penny Glassmeyer for her devotion to the town of Darien and long-standing support of the Chamber of Commerce’s scholarship program. These scholarship recipients are each awarded $2,000 towards their tuition

The Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation also funds scholarships to four Darien High School students annually. On behalf of the Darien High School Scholarship Committee, we are proud to announce those recipients this year as well: William Collins, Dru Palmer, Osaru Uwa-Omede and Owen Wagner.

The Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation is the Chamber’s fundraising arm, a separate 501(c)3 set up to support and facilitate programs that enrich the quality of life in Darien.
